Vihorlatske muzeum vzniklo v roku 1960, pricom od roku 1969 sidli v budove renesancneho kastiela zo 17.-teho storocia. Je to regionalne muzeum vlastivedneho charakteru.
Kastiel vznikol na prelome 16. a 17. storocia a spaja sa s osudom rodiny Drugethovcov, ktori vytvorili v tejto lokalite sidlo velkeho feudalneho panstva. Monumentalny stvorkridlovy kastiel s naroznymi vezami vybudovali v renesancii prestavbou stareho vodneho hradu. Vzhlad objektu vyrazne ovplyvnila barokova prestavba a neskorobarokove upravy sa prejavili najma v interieroch. V 19. storoci vybudovali okolo kastiela park. Po poziari v roku 1946 areal postupne obnovili a v sucasnosti su v kastieli historicke a vlastivedne zbierky muzea. V parku je umiestnena expozicia ludovej architektury.

The Vihorlat Museum (Homeland Museum) at Humenne was founded in 1960 and since 1969 is housed in a Renaissance manor from the 17th century.
The castle was built at the turn of the 17th century and is connected with the Drugeth family. They used it zs the centre of their large feudal estate. This monumental fourwing mansion house with corner towers was rebuilt in the Renaissance style of an old
moat castle. The appearance if this building is influenced by the baroque reconstruction and late-baroque adaptations ofthe interiors. A park was laid out around the mansion house in the 1gth century. The site was gradually reconstructed after a fire in 1946 and the castle now houses historical and national museum collections. The park serves as an exhibition of folk architecture.

Umelecko - historicka expozicia vznikla v roku 1971. Predstavuje sa tu bytova kultura slachty od renesancie po 20. storocie.

The Art-History Exhibition was open in 1971. On view here is the dwelling culture of the nobility from the Renaissance up to the 20th century.

Prirodovedna expozicia v severnom kridle kastiela je zamerana na prirodne pomery okresu Humenne.

The Natural History Exhibition in the northern wing of the manor is oriented to the natural features of the Humenne district.

Stala vystava Z dejin Romov na Slovensku prezentuje strucny prierez historiou romskeho etnika na Slovensku, priblizne od roku 1322, kedy sa datuje prva pisomna zmienka o Romoch u nas.

Galerijne oddelenie sa od svojho vzniku od roku 1989 zaobera vystavnou, kulturno-vychovnou a publikacnou cinnostou. Poriada vystavy domacich i zahranicnych autorov, vo svojej kartoteke sustreduje informacie o zivote a diele umelcov z regionu.
