Historia-popis / History-Description:
Centrum
Kolmana Sokola vzniklo v roku 2002. Je situovane v centre Liptovskeho Mikulasa, v najstarsej
svetskej budove z 15. storocia, ktora bola sidlom rodiny feudalneho slachtica Pongraca. Na severnej
strane dvora sa zachovali zvysky opevnovacieho muru so strielnami. Stavba spolu s Kostolom sv.
Mikulasa tvorila malu pevnost,
ktora
bola udajne obmyvana vodami Vahu. Povodny goticky sloh prekryli neskorsie prestavby a viacere
upravy, najma renesancne.
40. rokov zil v USA. Vystavene su grafiky a subor kresieb, ktore umelec daroval Slovensku. Expoziciu
doplnaju dokumentacne materialy, realie, fotografie.
The
Centre of Koloman Sokol was established in 2002. It is situated in the centre of Liptovsky Mikulas,
in the oldest secular building from the 15th century, which was a seat of the feudal noble Pongrac‘s
family. The northern part of the backyard preserves the remains of the fortification wall with
loopholes. The building formed a small fortification together with the church of St.Nicolaus and was
supposedly washed by waters of the Vah River. The original Gothic style was covered by later
reconstructions and several adaptations, mainly Renaissance ones. There is a permanent exhibition of
the works of important Slovak graphic and painting artist Koloman Sokol (1902 – 2003), who was born
in Liptovsky Mikulas, worked in Prague, Paris, Mexico and from the end of the forties lived in USA.
Exhibition consists of graphic works and a collection of drawings which the artist donated to
Slovakia. The exhibition is supplemented by documentary materials, facts and photographs.
